(More customer reviews)This is the Otterbox Commuter Case for Droid X. It sandwiches a soft conforming rubber (silicone or very similar) sleave inside a hard plastic shell. This is probably the best way to protect against droppage which would be the primary reason you might be looking at this product. The hard plastic outer shell keeps the case from getting caught in your pocket - gel cases have too much friction and can make it near impossible to remove the phone from a pocket. Fit, finish, and appearance are all excellent when the case is installed, it does not dramatically increase the size of the phone the way many other cases will, and installation and removal can be done in less than ten seconds without needing a quarter or some type of tool. The Otterbox comes with a screen protector that is perfectly fine but does not cover the entire glass surface of the screen - the peripheral one-tenth inch is not covered around the sides, top, and bottom. This is adequate since the soft silicone sleave wraps around the sides of the Droid X and protects the peripheral surface of the glass, but I installed a different screen protector that covers all of the glass surface anyways. The Otterbox does an excellent job of protecting the phone and all surfaces and buttons are covered by the soft silicone sleave. The buttons are easily operated by pushing on matching rubber bosses for each button, with no loss of precision as a result. Overall I give this product five out of five stars especially at competitive prices around 20 bucks or less. Unless you insist on a kickstand or belt loop this is the best Droid X case for protection and ease of use, but without added size or friction.
