I fixed the mount and my Droid. I can't post pictures, but to fix the mount I used 2 zip ties and a small bungee cord. I used one zip tie to ensure the cradle cannot slide out of the base and another zip tie looped through the first to tie everything to my handlebars. Solid. Then, I bungee the Droid to the cradle as I don't trust the friction fit. PERFECT! Oh, and I bought a new touchscreen for my Droid and replaced it myself. I'm happy again and I don't worry about the hone falling off the bike.
ORIGINAL Review:
On a very fast paved downhill, I hit a bump where a bridge meets the road.
I was on my road bike, mind you, not tearing down a technical signal track.
My Droid popped out of this holder and went flying into the air and landed in the road directly in the path of my front tire......which proceeded to run it over.
Due to my slow reaction time, my rear tire did the same.
So, one "thunk-thunk" later, I have a smashed Droid screen.
It still works, mind you, if you don't mind the finger cuts from the many shards of glass.
This product absolutely needs a better securing mechanism.
The Droid did not pop out of the frame holder, but rather the frame holder slid out of the slotted mate to the swivel.
It is at this point it needs better securing.
It basically slides in and only friction holds it. It needs a snap lock.
An older flip open phone may have survived this, but newer large LCD phones are fragile and the mount/holder needs to be absolutely solid.
So, who wants to pay for a new Droid? Amazon????
This was an expensive mistake.
