(More customer reviews)I wanted something that would protect the finish on my new Droid X but wouldn't add any bulk. The Skinit protective skin seemed like a good solution and looked pretty slick in the pictures.
The Skinit protective skin comes as a sheet of heavy vinyl decals that cover the front and most of the back of the phone. I followed the instructions, cleaning the phone, then carefully laying the decals on the phone before smoothing them in place. This did the trick, and in about 10 minutes, my Droid X had a new skin with no bubbles.
PROS
-Great Skibberreen Cross Design
-Great Fit (for the parts that it does cover)
-Easy Application
-Nice Looking
-Will protect the front and back of the phone fairly well from scuffs and scratches
CONS
-Not exactly the "Protective Skin" I was anticipating - The decals only cover the front and back of the phone, leaving the edges exposed. So, while this does provide a pretty good look and does fit the bill for reducing scuffing on the front and back surfaces of the phone, the corners (which, in my experience, get dinged up more than anything) are left exposed.
-The edges of the decals stand up a little bit from the surface of the phone (which really can't be helped - it is a decal, after all) provide a rough, tacky surface that attract dust and lint
-The decal that goes next to the camera does provide some protection when the phone is laying on its back, but it looks like an afterthought and detracts a bit from the overall look.
SUMMARY
If you're trying to stand out from the rest of the crowd and have a different look to your phone, this will certainly do the trick. If you're looking for a thin skin to protect the whole phone, you're going to want to go with something different.
