(More customer reviews)I started with the Verizon-supplied belt clip that resembles the BoxWave unit sold here on Amazon. The problem occurred when I lost the battery cover to my phone. I realized that the clip left the entire back of the phone unprotected. This unit provides protection to the back and face of the phone while in its holster because of the shell. The shell is very snug. When you put your phone into the holster with the shell, it provides a very snug fit as well. I am certain if I had to run across a street or even dance like a madman, it would not release the phone from the holster. I do not have that same feeling about the belt clip I used to use.
It's very easy to remove the phone from the holster. You push down on the phone where the swoop for the camera is and push out the phone. I can do it in one swift, easy motion when the phone rings. It is much easier to do while standing than sitting in a car, but in a car you should be using a hands free device for safety reasons.
The build quality of this unit is top-notch. I feel very comfortable that this will be the only shell/holster I will need for the life of this phone. Since the Droid X is so big, the only people that are going to be carrying the phone in their pockets are people with extra baggy pants or carpenter pants or something like that. You're either going to wear it using something like this product or you're going to have a purse to carry it. Awesome phone, now awesome holder.
