There are cut-outs for both Mics on the Body Glove Droid-X case. The X has a Mic in front and back - both have cutouts.
As far as the clip (and if you should even use it), the previous reviewer totally ignores the fact that the clip also has a built-in stand that allows you to stand the X up (horizontally or vertically) for viewing movies, etc.
I haven't had any problems getting the holder into the clip, and haven't had any issues with the holder not being secure.
As far as the X being too big to be in a clip on your waist, I'm not sure where else you'd put it - it doesn't fit very well in a pocket (too big), and I don't carry a man purse.
Bottom line is that if your used to carrying a blackberry on your belt - the X is fine there in this holder.
