(More customer reviews)After reading reviews for comparable products, I settled on this and I am very happy with it. It provides great scratch protection without impairing the screen visibility at all. Tons better than the cheapo 3-pack of stick on protectors that I tried first. Installation is more difficult since it's a wet application (just water and a detergent, no glue), although very doable if you're careful - and if you're looking at this review, you care enough to invest the extra 10 minutes. One thing to remember, even after you try to push out all the bubbles, it will look like crap the first 24 hours, but after a few more days all that clears up. After two weeks you can't tell it's there unless you hold it up to a light and look really hard.
The material is softer and has a slightly "tacky" or "rubbery" feel compared to the more rigid film type that feel more like the stuff they package electronics in at BestBuy. It doesn't feel like pure rubber, but it does have a little more grip to it than the film ones (maybe it helps to describe it as 15% rubber, 85%glass feel once it's settled in).
Pros:
- Seems to protect very well, no scratches on either the Droid or the Skinomi after some test attempts to scratch it.
- Maintains visibility - you can't tell by looking that the Skinomi is there, it fits the screen excellently and it looks just as sharp and as bright as the bare glass.
- Maintains touch - has a very slightly tackier feel than the bare glass, but touch sensitivity is still great.
- Repels fingerprints/smudges better than the bare glass, although it's not perfect like some of the anti-glare screens I've seen. When smudges do accumulate, a quick shirt wipe cleans it as good as new, unlike the glass where a wipe still leaves streaks.
Cons:
- Somewhat difficult to install, just make sure you keep your fingers wet when touching the sheets.
- Ever so slight "orange peel" texture effect - only visible at very extreme angles (
