(More customer reviews)Of the belt clip-style holsters, this is probably the best one based on my research. The holster attaches to your belt and the device slides into the holster versus other designs where the case on your device has a knob on the back that slides into a small clip on your belt. On the other designs, the knob doesn't allow you lay the device flat on a table or counter and may be uncomfortable when holding the device in your hand (i.e. during a phone call).
I've been using this holster for a few days now, and I really like it. The case that goes on the Droid installs very easily and is very sturdy. If fact, it was difficult to get it off when I wanted to install a new screen protector. The slight rubbery texture is nice (similar to the back of the Droid itself) and gives it less of a cheap plastic feel. The device slides into the holster very easily and stays in. I keep the holster sideways, so the device slides in from the front, and I did not have any problems during a full day at work.
As with any phone this size, it can feel bulky on your hip, especially in the car with a seat belt. But with my previous phone, I used a leather case where the phone slid in from the top (DLO Leather Holster Case for iPhone 3G, 3G S (Black)), and that was clearly more bulky than this holster. Plus, it was much more difficult to access the phone at times. After wearing that case for almost two years, this one felt a lot less bulky as soon as I put it on.
I only gave it four stars, because the ridges on the back and sides of the case and holster are kind of gaudy and unnecessary. I would have preferred a smooth design, similar to the device without the case. They neither add to or detract from the items functionality, so they probably could have done without them.
The case and holster perform as described and I feel like they provide the added protection I was looking for, so I would recommend this one over other holsters and belt-style cases. In general, I don't drop my phones a lot, especially after carrying an iPod and iPhone for the past few years (which aren't really drop friendly), but I feel like case would hold up pretty well. The added layer would at least protect the exterior of the phone from scratches and dings, but as with any other plastic case, there is no guarantee that the interior components of the phone could withstand the blunt force of a long distance drop.
